PLASMA

A plasma is a neutral medium of positive and neutral particles so the electrical charge is around zero. Even though these particles are not linked they are not free to move away from the plasma.
Lightning is an example of plasma present at Earth. Lightning releases 30,000 amperes at up to 100 million volts, and emits light, radio waves, X-rays and gamma rays. Plasma temperatures in lightning can approach around 28,000 Kelvin and electron densities may exceed 1024 m-3.Ais defined as ‘α = ni(ni + na)’ where ni is the density of ions and na is the density of neutral atoms.
There are ion drives that use two layers of plasma that accelerates ions, it does this so effective at it, it is used in ion drives that is used on experimental aircraft.
